Belgium

Belgium is a country whose importance in the world far exceeds the geographical footprint.  For political science or history group, exploring the importance of Belgium and specifically Brussels in the EU is a wonderful way to dive deeper into the lessons from the classroom. The impact on the global economy as well as Belgium itself can be investigated and better understood after a trip such as this.

European history and culture are another wonderful reason to head to Belgium, the medieval architecture and design of many of the cities lures you into exploring bygone eras. The impact of conflict and resolutions can be seen throughout the county.  One can even choose to focus on Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo, outside of Brussels and learn how important an impact this had on shaping Europe of the 19th Century.

The music of Belgium has deep roots in the folk history of a mixture of Flemish traditions as well as French. The saxophone was invented in Belgium and thus there is also a strong presence of Blues music throughout the region.  Performance and clinic opportunities are varied and accessible for music groups.
